Sport as a tool for sustainable development

The SportforDevelopment Programme works on a partnership between the International Sports Alliance (ISA), Right To Play (RTP), the Royal Dutch Football Federation (KNVB) and the Royal Dutch Hockey Association (KNHB) in cooperation with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It ensures sustainable community development through sports worldwide with a focus on promoting and enabling sports amongst vulnerable groups, including disadvantaged children. Communities are developed with sport being a catalyst for positive social change. SportforDevelopment is currently active in all corners of the globe and partners with local sporting bodies such as in the realisation of a ‘Colour Field’ at the Nehru Stadium in New Delhi, India.

Active Esports Arena:
use your body as a controller

Active Esports Arena combines Virtual Reality (VR) gaming software with a harness that transforms your body into a controller. The idea creates a unique gaming experience with many challenges, also physical ones. The group wants to take the gamer out of their desk chair and onto the virtual and interactive gaming floor.

Cruyff Courts: multi-purpose sports playgrounds

In recent years, more than 250 Cruyff Courts have been built in 21 different countries, enabling more and more children to benefit from a safe sports or play area. Children not only learn how to deal with winning and losing, but also learn about the importance of solidarity and what one’s own talents are. These are of course valuable experiences, both on and off the field.
